Job Description

ReNew2030 is a global coalition of regional climate foundations and transnational organisations, hosted by ECF. The coalition funds a diverse portfolio of implementation partners across the globe. ReNew2030’s goal is to scale global wind and solar capacity fivefold by 2030, supporting a 1.5°C-consistent pathway while strengthening energy security, creating jobs and delivering health, climate and economic benefits.

Position

About the role

We’re seeking a Senior Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) & Grants Associate to design, build and maintain ReNew2030’s MEL system. You will manage the programme theory of change and indicator framework, ensure high-quality, comparable data across partners, support evaluations, and translate evidence into clear learning products and donor-ready reports. You’ll turn data into insight, demonstrate project and programme impact, and embed learning to improve how we and our partner's work.  

The role also provides end-to-end grant lifecycle support, including screening, due diligence, contracting, disbursements, monitoring, and compliance close-out.

 

Key responsibilities  

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL):

  • Develop, implement and maintain ReNew2030’s MEL system, managing the programme theory of change and indicator framework; refresh annually to reflect strategy and learning
  • Provide practical data capture (templates, guidance) and build concise dashboards that shows portfolio-level progress, risks and trends
  • Provide light-touch MEL support to partners to improve data completeness, comparability and timeliness
  • Synthesise findings into learning briefs and donor-ready results reports, highlighting decision-relevant insights, gaps and implications for adaptation

 

Grants management:

  • Provide the end-to-end grant lifecycle support to the team
  • Collect and generate grant requests and ensure all information is provided and complete  
  • Synthesise findings into learning briefs and donor-ready results reports, highlighting decision-relevant insights, gaps and implications for adaptation
  • Manage the initial due diligence check of new and existing grantees and consultants and ensure that the grant portal system is up to date
  • Regular checks in the grant portal system for outstanding payments, due reports, approval limits, payment confirmation letters
  • Monitor grants through review of grant reporting (narrative/financial) to ensure activities are carried out for the provisional plan, proposal and expenses budgeted. 
  • Support grantees and programme teams with contract management, including non-cost extensions and amendments. 
  • Any other operational duties as assigned by the management. 

 

Requirements

Experience and competencies   

At least 7 years’ experience [DR1] [ML2] in M&E preferably in philanthropy, international development, or civil society, climate & energy.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, economics, international development, data/statistics, or another relevant area.

Excellent knowledge of M&E frameworks, including logic models, ToC, KPIs, qualitative and quantitative indicators.

Proven ability to demonstrate project and programme impact, including designing feasible approaches and producing credible, decision-ready evidence.

Excellent writing and visualisation skills- able to turn complex analysis into clear insights and practical recommendations

Grounded experience in middle-income country contexts.

Positive, can-do approach with a focus on solutions & comfortable working independently and using discretion

Comfortable balancing rigour and practicality

Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.

Computer literate with proficiency in the MS Office suite.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
