Responsibilities
Reports to: Alexander Olbrechts
The Manager Digital Health – AI will drive the activities of MedTech Europe on AI policy, support the wider Digital Health Team at MedTech Europe and complement the execution of MedTech Europe’s digital health strategy.
- Lead the work of MedTech Europe on files related to the intersection between digital health, the Medical Devices Regulations (IVDR & MDR) and AI, focusing on the relevant legislative proposal, EU AI Act. This includes:
- Monitoring and engaging on behalf of industry on the implementation of the EU AI Act
- Building and maintaining key relationships with EU institutional stakeholders, including within the European Commission, Council of the EU and the European Parliament
- Developing the industry’s input to consultation activities
- Supporting industry engagement with other AI files and initiatives, reinforcing the medical technology industry’s voice in shaping the inetgartion of AI in healthcare systems
- Representation of MedTech Europe at meetings with key stakeholders (incl. MEPs, Attachés among others) and at events
- Drafting of briefings for the Director Digital Health and other senior MedTech Europe colleagues
- Leading the activities of the MedTech Europe AI Working Group and supporting the members during associated committee and working group meetings, as well as other ad hoc meetings
- Provide further assistance as required, such as carrying out administrative tasks for meetings with key stakeholders (invitations, follow- ups)
Must- haves- - Bachelor degree or higher in humanities, public policy, social/political sciences, European Studies, IT, economics, law, or other relevant fields
- 5- 7 years work experience in a similar role
- Fluency in oral and written English
- Familiarity with the EU healthcare landscape, legislative processes, preferably experience with regulatory/legal/advocacy in the field of MedTech and/or digital
- Particular familiarity with EU AI policy, including the EU AI Act
- Analytical mindset, ability to carry out research and present results effectively both in written and orally
- Reactiveness, ability to work independently and proven experience in taking responsibility and initiative
- Communication skills (orally/verbally)
- Eye for detail, ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, and a positive outlook
- IT savviness, including competence in standard Windows and MS Office applications
- Interest in medical technologies/healthcare and digital health
Nice- to- haves- - Fluency in other official EU languages, particularly French and/or German
- Experience with policy monitoring and briefing skills
- Experience in EU or national government institutions
- Understanding of AI technologies and solutions and their impact on the medical technology industry and healthcare more broadly
- An established network in the EU bubble, particularly on AI or digital policy
