Adjunct Professor: The Theory and Practice of Diplomacy and Global Governance

Position Description

The MA Programme in Diplomacy and Global Governance at the Brussels School of Governance invites applications for the position of Adjunct Professor for the Fall 2025 semester, starting in September 2025.

You will be teaching the course The Theory and Practice of Diplomacy and Global Governance in the fall 2025 semester.

The course is a MA foundational course that introduces students to the major theories, concepts and discipline-specific assumptions of the theory and practice of diplomacy and global governance. It does so from historical, theoretical and a contemporary applied policy perspectives in the wider context of both state-centric and non-state-centric understandings of world order. The course is sensitive to and reflective of key policy issues in contemporary global affairs. It will address practical issues and problems of modern diplomacy and global governance in an applied contemporary context.

The course will be taught in the fall semester, which runs from September to the beginning of January. The fall semester has a length of 14 weeks, with two teaching hours per week, plus one office hour per week. This course is offered every fall semester.

The contracts are on an independent basis (i.e self-employed, "indépendant" in French, "zelfstandige" in Dutch). This opportunity is ideal for academic professionals who would like to maintain a link to a university, and who would like to share their insights with young and motivated students within a strong multicultural environment.
