Job Description
As Farm Animals Project Officer, you will provide high quality technical outputs to strengthen the lobby and communications towards a revision of the animal welfare legislation. You will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of the creation of the first regional cage free legislation and a first modernisation of the EU acquis in nearly 20 years. Together with the political team, you will lobby for a modernised legislation, providing topnotch up-to-date knowledge as well as irrefutable arguments in meetings, events and bespoken briefings. You will increase your network with the technical people behind the scenes of the modernisation of the EU animal welfare legislation. Furthermore you will be the face of industry engagement at Eurogroup for Animals. You will be responsible to engage industry stakeholders in this file and bring them closer to our points, or at least neutral.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in the lobbying meetings in Brussels
- Engage industry stakeholders in the modernisation of the animal welfare legislation
- Build upon and deliver the industry engagement strategy on this file
- Build a network of technical people in the institutions
- Together with the farm animals policy officer, engage members in the technical aspects of this file, including stakeholder engagement
- Work closely with the farm animals policy officer to ensure the relevance of our technical reports in the political landscape

Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent technical knowledge regarding animal welfare and animal production.
- Knowledge of influential industry stakeholders and technical networks within the Brussels Institutions.
- Ability to be outspoken and work effectively in conservative environments less aligned with our vision.
- Resilient nature and ability to handle stress and higher workload periods at times, as well as changing environments.
- Proactive, diligent, and a strong team player.
- Affinity with animal welfare and commitment to the vision and mission of Eurogroup for Animals.
Desirable skills
- Well-organized and focused on concrete results.
- Flexible, agile, and comfortable with open feedback.
- Proven ability to thrive in ever-changing and high-pressure environments.

Practicalities
The position is a full-time permanent position (pending funding renewal in January 2028). The position is based in Brussels or it demands to be in Brussels 50% of the time.
Salary range €3,282/mo to €5,082/mo depending on experience.
