We are looking for a new team member for our Finance Department to help undertake a wide range of finance & accounting tasks. You will play an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organisation's financial and accounting cycle.
Besides your key responsibilities, you will foster your professional skillset by coordinating various finance-related tasks with other departments, such as the Development team whose role is to raise funds and manage projects.

MAIN ASSIGNMENTS:
The Finance team is composed of the Head of Finance and Operations and a Finance Officer. As Associate accountant your tasks will include but will not be limited to:

Being responsible for the processing of Accounts Payable (invoices, expense claims) within the accounting system (odoo).

Being responsible for the reconciliation: suppliers, and credit card reports.

Ensuring a smooth payment process with the bank (emission, transmission including liaison with the beneficiaries if necessary).

Supporting the preparation of statutory audit or ad-hoc projects.

Providing support in producing reliable financial information on a regular basis and within reactive deadlines.

Providing support in ensuring the respect of Belgian accounting principle and Belgian accounting obligations (VAT declarations, tax declarations etc.).

Contributing to the financial follow-up of ongoing projects, i.e., expenditure evolution report.

Supporting the continuous improvement of financial procedures and processes.

Providing additional support to the finance team (update of financial tools and databases, digital archiving, etc.).

Helping with other tasks when necessary.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate:
-
Is proactive and result-oriented
-
Is comfortable evolving within a fast-paced environment.

Holds a Bachelor or Master’s degree (in accountancy, or similar field).
- Has experience of minimum 6 months in finance and/or accounting positions or similar, ideally exposed to an international and multicultural context.
- Has a strong knowledge of Belgium Accounting principles and related legal requirements.
- Has experience with Odoo, Isabel and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Is meticulous in record-keeping and digital filing and has a proven ability to manage high-volume data entry against strict month-end deadlines.
- Shows reliability and discretion.

Can multi-task and work well independently.
The working language of Bruegel is English, therefore the candidate must be fluent (oral/written) in English. French or Dutch is undoubtedly an asset. Other languages are welcome.
